Nazmul Toropdar Climbs Ben Nevis for the Children's Village
Nazmul, a young Londoner challenged himself to climb Scotland's highest mountain and sucessfully raised over £2,000. Here's his story:
|
Yes, I managed to complete climb Ben Nevis and this is how the day went.
We reached Fort William at 5.30am on Saturday (4hrs later than expected). As we couldn't check in at the hostel until 9am we decided to go straight to the climb, knowing we all had been up for something like 22 hours!
I was part of a group of 11 climbers, but we split the group in two as we had couple of people suffering from shin splits/ankle pain. So we had a slow and 'caring' group and a competitive group. I couldn't leave any of the guys behind so I stayed with the 'slow [and caring] group'. Our group managed to complete the climb in about 11hrs (up & down).
Overall, the day itself was awesome - we experienced some great views and enjoyed ourselves. Although a very, yes very, painful (on the way down) experience, it was worth it for the great cause!
My thanks to all the generous donations (sponsors), so far I have managed to raise over £2,000 and still counting.
This money will help in the construction of the Mali Children's Village, a unique project which will house orphans in family-style housing, provide free education and skills training, and provide the environment for them to become normal contributing members of society.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a BIG BIG thank you for all your donations and support. So thanks again and enjoy the pics!
